-Do parents stay the whole time or can they drop off?

Yes, parents are required to stay the whole time during a stay & play session. The idea behind this offering is to be present & bond with your child in our natural space. If you are looking to drop your child off then you would need to enroll them in our drop-off nature play preschool sessions and that requires filling out all required licensing forms plus paying your tuition for this service one month in advance.

-Can I do a combination of stay & play & enroll in the nature play sessions?

Yes! This is a great opportunity for families who have been work from home or stay at home parents. If parents have the opportunity and flexibility to do a soft entry into drop-off sessions I always highly recommend this as it gives them a chance to build trust in the new space, with peers & teacher.

-If I bring a child under 1 who is not playing do I still have to pay?

Yes, all children count toward my ratio. I am a licensed preschool & I am only allowed to have 12 children on site at one time. This is why I highly recommend booking your sessions as far out as possible in order to ensure we have space.

-What happens at your sessions?

At Play Matters Preschool we provide a wide variety of natural & simple yet engaging activities that speak to the heart of your wild child. Each aimed at allowing children to play and discover the world around them. Our sessions are open-ended and child-initiated. At each session, children will feel empowered by both parents & peers & thrive in a supportive outdoor environment where they are the leaders of their play.

-What ages are your sessions for?

Our stay & play sessions are for ages 0-8 though it’s designed for ages 2-5. Most common age group is children under 5 who attend, with 18mo-4yr being the most active members. We have baby safe sensory activities catering for our tiniest of forest folk. We also welcome home-educated children up to age 8.

-Do the play sessions continue in all weathers?

We run sessions in all weather.  We love to promote outdoor play throughout the seasons & teach that there is no such thing as bad weather only bad clothing. Please purchase a full body rain suit for wet play days. We will close the preschool only if there is a high wind advisory or continuous storm weather with no breaks in the rain. As for high heat, we typically aren't affected by this since we close around the time when temps really begin to reach unsafe levels. In the event that the temp reaches above 100 during play hours (according to forecast), we will then close a bit early and parents will be contacted via our forest family chat.

-Is there free parking?

There is FREE street parking on-site. Please also feel free to park in the driveway & block the black Nissan.

-How much are the stay & play  sessions?

$25.00 one wildling

$38.00 two wildlings

$57.00 three wildlings

-Are there toilets?

Yes! We have a child urinal & an outhouse that is large enough to accommodate parents & children. New one is being made currently that will provide more parent privacy. Changing pad can be found in the earth classroom.

-What should we wear?

Please ensure you and your child are dressed appropriately for the weather. As we are based outdoors we recommend that the exterior layer always be waterproof. This means in the warm months wearing a full body rash guard style swim suit & cool months a rain bib or rain suit. Please be advised that there is mud, paint. shaving cream and water to play with every day so please don’t wear anything precious.
